Canaan Kawaihae second chance at the Big Show

Canaan Kawaihae meets Jonas Bilharinho at Dana White Contender Series on November 2

Hawaiian Fighter Canaan Kawaihae got a spot at Dana White Contender Series on November 2 for the second time. Canaan will be fighting Jonas Bilharinho, a native Brazilian for the UFC Contract.

In May, Canaan Kawaihae had a huge win in LFA, submitting Jake Childers within 20 seconds of Round 1. An unorthodox style stunned Jake Childers (8-1 at the time) of the Ninja Choke.

The first time Canaan Kawaihae met Dana White was in July 2018 where he faced a now UFC rising star Chase Hooper. Canaan performed well on the first two rounds but later gassed out. Chase Whooper got the Unanimous Decision win earning him a developmental deal with the UFC.

Facing Canaan Kawaihae is Jonas Bilharinho

Did YOU KNOW?

Jonas Bilharinho, also known as SHIVA (one of the main deities of Hinduism, whom Shaivites worship as the supreme god.), is a 31-year-old fighter from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He calls himself “Servant of the living God,” On his Instagram posts, he is the spiritual kind that looks like a god some Hippies would praise. 😛

Kidding aside, Jonas has a remarkable resemblance to Jake Gyllenhaal.

Jonas “Shiva” Bilharinho

30 | 5’11″ | Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | 8-1-1

| 7 Finishes | 6 KO/TKOs, 1 Submission (RNC) |

| Best Win – Mario Israel (9-0)

In 2016, Jonas Bilharinho was one of the best prospects out of Brazil but suffered a disappointing loss to Valdines Silva. Following that loss, Bilharinho took a layoff of a little over two years. He came back in October of 2019 and scored a highlight-reel flying knee knockout. Jonas was supposed to fight last year in LFA, but the pandemic held that back. If that were to happen, he could’ve been fast-tracked to the UFC. He’s such a good fighter that I think he can go right into the UFC and make noise.

Bilharinho is an absolute sniper with an incredible sixth-sense likeability to finish the fight. He’s a master of the range, being able to control the distance. Bilharinho throws laser straight punches and a swift left kick to the body. He throws a lot of snapping kicks and long punches to commit to bigger strikes. Bilharinho is very technical and still explosive when he wants to be.
