Home favorite Angela Lee stretched her unbeaten mixed martial arts (MMA) streak to three wins after her latest victory over Natalie Gonzales Hills of the Philippines.
Hills came out strong at ONE: PRIDE OF LIONS on Friday night, aggressively attacking Lee with her Muay Thai skills and even got the latter down on her back.
However, the Evolve Fight Team’s Lee managed to turn things around and got into full mount on Hills.
The two-time Pankration world champion displayed a solid ground game and worked swiftly to secure Hills into a twister, forcing the Filipino to tap out at 2:24 minutes of Round 1.
“I came into this fight with a lot of passion and I’m glad I got everything together, so I could think clearly and get the twister that I was working on,” said Lee after the fight.
“There was a lot more pressure and expectations going into this fight and I was very excited at the start,” the 19-year-old admitted, “Unfortunately I had a slow start but my natural instincts kicked in and I was able to finish the fight in the first round.”
This is the first time in ONE Championship history that a submission by twister was executed.
