Ray Cooper iii opens PFL Season with Jason Ponet

Hawaii MMA News: Ray Cooper III upcoming bout against Jason Ponet

On April 29, the reigning Champion Ray Cooper iii will be entering the 2021 PFL season.

The last time we saw Cooper was in 2019, knocking out David Michaud on Round 2.

With the PFL season being canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 28-year-old Cooper has been unable to fight. He spent the majority of the year enjoying life in Hawaii.

Training during the pandemic wasn’t the most challenging thing for Cooper. He puts his time entirely at home. His training partners mostly live with him – his brothers and his cousins.

Aside from that, only a few close friends were allowed into the “closed training sessions.”

Cooper’s passion for the sport comes from a long genealogy of fighters. One of his best friends and cousins is UFC Featherweight Kai Kamaka III, who competes two days after him.

Cooper has a professional fight record of 20 wins, seven losses, and one no contest.
