Zach Zane to Nick Newell: “The only way I’m losing his fight is if I die.”

Xclusive MMA:
Hi everybody, this is DREW, from Xclusive MMA, and I have Zach God’s Warrior Zane on the phone. How are you doing, Zach?

Zach Zane:
I’m doing good I’m doing good

Xclusive MMA:
Right on well, congratulations, we just heard your fights confirmed with Bellator. Well, what do you think about that?

Zach Zane:
This is a huge blessing to my family and me you know this is ten long years of work in and believing and just keeping my faith strong, and you know March 13 is right around the corner. you know hopefully, everything prevails

Xclusive MMA:
Absolutely we saw your fight with Nainoa Dung, and that was awesome. At the end of the fight, you ask Bellator to sign you, and a month later, here we are, we’re getting ready for a big fight!

Zach Zane:
Yeah, honestly life is like a movie, doesn’t feel real you know, but when reality certainly kick in, and I’m ready for it, so I’m ready for this

Xclusive MMA:
Awesome! You looked ready. Your last fight Nainoa was amazing. Nainoa bring a lot of hype, and it was obvious that you gave a little bit of schooling in jujitsu, he struggled with that. In that fight, was that your game plan to come in with the jujitsu and kind of keep him away from standing?

Zach Zane:
Yes yeah, you know, I know you know he’s a good striker. You know like he’s been kickboxing since he was a baby, so of course, he is going to be comfortable on his feet. But you know this is Bellator, we’re at a huge pinnacle, this is a huge platform you know the W. was very important to me you know for my career. You know as longevity to keep doing this for my family and whatnot. And of course, I needed a game plan. You know the game plan was definitely wrestling and jujitsu. Because you know it takes a while to learn jujitsu and wrestling is something that you know, it’s similar to jujitsu, and you don’t just learn that overnight. You know so all right, so yeah, that was the input game plan, and it worked out on our favor.

Xclusive MMA:
With the W., that’s awesome, and you know we heard a rumor earlier that you are going to retire before Bellator popped up, was that you were were you just like you know what had enough for this fight game for now?

Zach Zane:
Yeah, I think I was just kind of just over everything at the moment. I think I was just like I’ve been doing it for so long, and it’s a huge roller coaster I should be, you know. People think it’s just smiles and you get everything, they don’t see the heartache, they don’t see the blood, the sweat, the tears, the doubts you know that everything outside of the cage you know so. I was going through a little bit of something, but this is the era now everybody goes to something so

Xclusive MMA:
Yeah, you need to recharge your batteries well we’re really happy that it’s working out for you and that you we’re going to get to see you. All of America is going to get to see maybe the world I don’t know how far Bellator reaches, but that’s not being the main that’s the prime time right there.

Zach Zane:
yeah I know shame on me for thinking that

Xclusive MMA:
yeah yeah, I know you’re going to be a fine man. Speaking of your opponent Nick Newell, he has a little bit of a. There is something a little bit different about him. He’s missing part of his arm. He still comes across as a pretty good fighter. Is that going to be an advantage of a disadvantage for you?

Zach Zane:
You know, for me I think it’s almost like 50/50. Like he has an advantage maybe in grappling in some aspects you know like grabbing and for sneaking that arm in but man if you’re a striker and you know about striking you know it’s kind of hard to strike with three limbs when a guy has four. That’s to me, that’s a disadvantage, but who knows you know, he might be freaking throwing that jab as fast as lightning. And you know like I’m expected the unexpected for this fight but this right here, I want to meet him right in the middle, and we’re gonna have a good old backyard fight, but somebody’s going to go down, and I promise you that the only way I’m losing this fight is if I die.

Xclusive MMA:
Hawaiian style, I love it. A real scrap

Yeah, for sure awesome. Well, anything you’ve been doing different for your training this time?

Zach Zane:
For this time maybe I’ve been swimming a lot more. As for everything else, I just do everything you know. I’m a mixed martial artist, so I like to train everything, jujitsu, boxing, kickboxing. I’m always I’m always open to learning, you know I’m always open to learning so. If there’s anything new, it’s just swimming.

Xclusive MMA:
yeah, be ready for anything. Did you check out any of those Ilima MacFarlane videos where she’s like holding the boulder and back and forth underneath the pool yeah yeah

Zach Zane:
Oh yeah, she’s nice.

Xclusive MMA:
Yeah, she’s amazing.

Zach Zane:
She’s a nice and good example for you to know everybody in Hawaii to try to reach their goals. Look at her.

Xclusive MMA:
yeah, absolutely amazing her story.

Awesome, I know you got to get back to the gym, and I just want to say thanks for coming on the line with us today.

Zach Zane:
Hey no problem it’s a pleasure

Xclusive MMA:
is there anything you want to set out to the fans your sponsors your family anybody

Zach Zane:
For sure, yeah, I like to thank god for everything you know. Love to thank my family, my friends on my loved ones, everyone who believes in me, my sponsors. Yeah, you guys on who you are, you mean the world to me. I’m beyond grateful for this. This is it. This is the one right here, this is Hawaii versus the world.

Xclusive MMA:
